As we know that the main purpose of Antivirus is to protect Computer being infected by viruses. Even now many antivirus include proactive detection feature ( the ability to detect new viruses without depend on their viruses database), but once computer is infected by virus, the antivirus often cannot do much. Even sometimes the antivirus didn’t work at all.

Why is like that ? because the virus that infected the computer, usually the first time they try to disable antivirus, if they can’t they will try to block antivirus from deleting them. If your computer has been infected by viruses, and your antivirus is inactive, there are some tips to clean them.

1. Try to install another antivirus

Today many free antivirus available to download. You can try them, some of them has great viruses detection ability. Or just try the new free antivirus available few days ago such as RISING Antivirus 2008 Free Edition. I has a good detection rate.

2. Scan your hard drive in another computer

If you able to detach hard drive from your computer and you have friends that always update their antivirus, its best choice. If you can’t, just ask someone to help you. This method is effective, because you can also delete the virus manually.

3. Scan with Bootable CD

Sometimes, we can’t just detach hard drive and scan it in another computer, because its still have guarantee label. Or its your new Notebook. If this is the problem, just try to scan using bootable CD that has antivirus. For example UBCD4Win, Some rescue CD from Antivirus maker, such as Antivir Rescue System and others.

4. Scan or delete viruses manually

You can using bootable CD to do this, but this method need that you know some knowledge about viruses,file and folder. And also some technique used by virus to duplicate them self.

5. Re-Install Computer

If after some methods your computer is still infected by viruses, maybe this is the best choices. And also with fresh install your computer will have good performance. But it is recommended to scan another file / programs in another drive from being infected by viruses first. Don’t forget to prepare the CD Driver for your computer.
